Six minutes of gameplay action for Rainbow Six: Vegas

Tom Clancy made a lot of bad decisions in his lifetime. For instance, he allowed Matt Damon to play Jason Bourne in those movies… *is told that Bourne is a Robert Ludlum franchise*

Erm… For instance, he allowed Ben Affleck to play Jack Ryan in “The Sum of All Fears.” *possible death by fanboy averted* One thing he did do right, though, was making the Rainbow Six game franchise a lot more tactical than Counter-Strike.

In this new trailer for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas, you get to see just how much coordination is needed by an actual team to get your standard rescue mission done. Everyone in the game is a paper target, so taking cover, blind-firing, and combining swift infiltration with surprise sniping attacks will save you from having to revive yourself or your teammates. A flashbang or two wouldn’t hurt either.

The video also shows the battle occurring from the viewpoint of different characters, so if you see something that you think you already passed earlier in the video, it’s just the same action through the eyes of another member of your team.

Until the game comes out though, keep enjoying these trailers and learn some strategy from whoever they got to playtest the game for these videos. Just ask yourself why they’re called the Rainbow Six, though. It’s hard to inspire fear in the hearts of terrorists when you’re named after something the Care Bears drive their cars on, even if you do have guns.
