Snake’s Final Mission: The MGS4 E3 2006 Trailer

If there is one highly anticipate game in E3, it is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot. Last year’s trailer was purely comedic, taking a crack at our favorite hero, Solid Snake. At the same time, it was poking fun at Metal Gear’s resident boytoy, Raiden. However, this year’s Metal Gear Solid Trailer is nothing like last year’s comedy. If not, it has taken the reality of war into the virtual PS3.

So what does the trailer confirm? Well, other than Snake being there, the trailer also affirms the presence of some of our favorite Metal Gear characters, many of which we have seen in Metal Gear Solid. Otacon, Meryl, Roy Campbell, and Liquid Snake will be present in this game. The game also features the promised buff Raiden. He is now wearing a ninja suit and helmet. Could he be the new Grey Fox? He does try to appear cool as he says his lines in the trailer, but didn’t Raiden try his best to appear really cool in MGS2 as well?

The trailer is flawless as what they have been trying to project for MGS4. If there is a theme that MGS4 has been trying to project over the past year, it is reality. In fact, with all the other trailers for the PSP coming out, you cannot distinguish whether what you are watching is the FMV or the actual game play. With PS3’s promised real-time experience, this promising trailer of MGS4 could be telling us that Metal Gear Solid is as real as it can get. Though we may not be able to play the game yet, you can at least get the trailer and watch it to your heart’s content.
