Sonic Riders sequel for Wii slowly revealing itself?
Sonic Riders (released on the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, and PC) had its own quirks. It might not have pleased the most of us, but you can’t deny that it had its own kind of novelty to cater to a specific market. The franchise of Sonic racing titles might get an extra speed boost though, because if this turns out to be true, then I’m definitely excited.
Sega Nerds reports of a GameSpot product listing of one “Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity” and the most interesting part of it is that it’s going to be (at least as GameSpot lists it) available on the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2 on February 1, 2008.
We decided to check the online store ourselves, but unfortunately, the listings have been taken down already. Aww, snap. Sega Nerds has a screencap of the listings though, so you can head over to the Via link to see it.
What’s interesting to note here is that talk of a Sonic Riders sequel isn’t entirely new. Producer Takashi Yuda has mentioned before that a sequel would come to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Later, come March of this year, he said that the Wii could bring the Sonic Riders franchise “to the next dimension.” Meanwhile, PLAY magazine’s September 2007 issue even promises a first look at a certain Sonic Riders 2.
Where is all this going? All we know is that Sega might have to do a lot of explaining and (here’s to hoping) confirming in the next couple of weeks and months.
