Sonic Rivals 2 hitting PSPs this fall
SEGA of America and SEGA Europe have let slip that Sonic Rivals 2 will be zooming to a PSP near you this fall. The game, which has been exclusively developed for the PSP, looks to capture the feel of the previous iteration while correcting some of the more troublesome spots that players complained about.
The game is said to feature a revamped rival “jostling” gameplay system in head-to-head contests along with a new Battle mode where two players compete in six different multiplayer challenges. One thing that players will appreciate is the fact that multiplayer through Wi-Fi can be implemented by using just one disc.
Rivalry has been refined with upgraded power-ups and range weapons. This is very good since players can now attack or defend themselves regardless of their position, a problem in the first iteration of the game. In addition to this, new characters have been added to game such as Miles “Tails” Prower.
The new characters’ abilities (such as Tails being able to fly) may become very useful in uncovering secrets in the new single-player Free Play mode. Speaking of secrets, the game’s card trading and collection is back with 150 more collectible cards that let players customize characters with new track suits, unlock PSP backgrounds and unlock Cup Circuits.
So far, no word has been given whether or not players will be given the opportunity to import their saved games from the previous Sonic Rivals. Regardless, the game is looking really good, and hopefully will surpass its predecessor in terms of gameplay.
While waiting for the fall release of Sonic Rivals 2, you may want to look at the screenshots of the game we were able to get. Keep checking back here for more updates on the game.
