Sony collaborates with Samsung on 8GB Player

Apparently Samsung has won a major deal to supply memory for Sony’s new 8GB Player as well as the PS3.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Samsung will make the majority of memory backup devices used in Sony’s upcoming Playstation 3. The new type of chip using Rambus technology, while Playstation Portable uses NAND flash.

In response stock in Samsung has raised 14 percent. If these estimates are correct, Bloomberg assumes that Sony will soak up 20 percent of Samsungs entire memory production.
