Sony PlayStation Logo - Image 1Sony Computer Entertainment has revealed that they plan on increasing their presence in India. This move is being done to take advantage of the ever increasing gaming industry in the country.

Atindriya Bose, PlayStation country manager for India’s branch of Sony Computer Entertainment, explained:

The Indian gaming market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 78 per cent by 2010, and barely one per cent of the country’s gaming potential has been tapped. However, we are still at a very nascent stage, even though there is a lot of potential for the industry.

Interestingly enough, the company has decided to focus on the top 20 cities in the region. To help them with this, Sony plans on tapping various partners to help them out in this venture. Bose detailed the plans for this saying, “We are looking forward to have a phase wise distribution pattern, and hence aiming to have around 3-4 quality product centers in these cities.”

Sony is also planning on organizing PlayStation events and other promotional stints in various locations where the youth congregate. The company is even considering adding localized content to further their campaign.
