Sony's Steinberg: it's a bad time to be our competitor - Image 1Well this sounds like an answer to Microsoft’s earlier challenge. Well Sony‘s Steinberg recently wrote on his blog that it’s a bad time to go against the PS3. With huge exclusives like LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, and Resistance 2 lined up for their console, it’s no wonder either. More details in the full article.

Sony's Steinberg: it's a bad time to be our competitor - Image 1Well this sounds like an answer to Microsoft’s earlier challenge. Remember when Microsoft’s Phil Spencer said that the Xbox 360’s first-party games has had more success than the PlayStation 3’s?

Well Sony‘s Steinberg has something to say about that. It wasn’t a direct reply to Spencer, but they might as well have been talking face to face. Steinberg, SCEA‘s VP of Marketing, recently wrote on his blog that it’s a bad time to go against the PS3:

In the next few years, youÂ’re going to start to see us separate from the herd. Some of the other platforms are going to look very dated because their life spans are so much shorter than ours.

And weÂ’re also offering more first-party exclusives. ItÂ’s a major flaw in some of our competitors that they donÂ’t have the development resources to showcase on a global basis the diversity and the creativity of a development team thatÂ’s a thousand strong.

[…] If youÂ’re a competitor IÂ’ve got bad news for you because weÂ’ve got some absolute blockbusters that are in the works, some of them new IP, some of them existing IP, that weÂ’re building specifically for the PS3.

From a competitive standpoint our competitors are going to have a tougher road now then even in 2008. But for PlayStation 3 consumers, it means more quality and more choice.

With huge exclusives like LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5 and Resistance 2 lined up for their console, one will have a hard time disagreeing with him. As most gamers will agree with, exclusives make the platform, and it looks like Sony’s gearing up for a campaign it intends to win in the console war

Steinberg has a lot more to say about the PS3, including Blu-ray, DLCs, and the digital lifestyle. Read the whole thing after the source link.
