Splatterhouse and classic games at Wii Shop Channel

This is just a reminder to those of you who haven’t checked your Wii Shop Channel. A classic game was added today for the U.S. market.

SPLATTERHOUSE from Namco... now on Wii... - Image 1Splatterhouse. This TurboGrafx 16 game for 1 player is worth 600 Wii Points. According to a press release from Nintendo, this game starts with Rick and Jennifer, both parapsychology students at the local university, who are visiting West Mansion, the site of the research lab where the famed Dr. West conducted some of his most gruesome experiments (sort of like Dr Frank’s mansion in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”). A sudden storm forces them to find shelter inside the mansion (sort of like what happened to Brad and Janet in the “Rocky Horror Picture Show”).

Once inside, they are attacked by monsters. Rick awakens to find himself covered in blood, with the Terror Mask stuck to his face, and with no sign of Jennifer (makes you shiver in antici… pation). His only hope is to depend on the ancient powers of the mask to give him the strength and courage to find Jennifer (in just seven days, it can make you a man). The creepy music, gruesome monsters, gory action, and shocking events leading up to the finale will keep you on the edge of your seat (like a science fiction double feature – a late night double feature picture show).

Two other games are also available:

Excitebike. This NES game for 1 player is worth 500 Wii Points. If memory serves (and if a previous article was accurate), this game was released in Europe and Australia a while back. Hm. We sure do miss the making our own courses in Design Mode.

Beyond Oasis. This Sega Genesis game for 1 player is worth 800 Wii Points. In this game, you play Prince Ali who travels to the land of Oasis, gradually acquiring the ability to summon four spirits to aid him in his quest to claim a magical silver armlet. (By the way, Sega has other retro titles for the Wii Virtual Console.)

Video gaming. Classic titles. Three classic games at the Wii Shop Channel. At the Nintendo, triple feature, feature show.
