Square Enix ‘Vanguard Storm’ trademark is an iPhone game, now available on App Store; trailer, screens
It’s a sneaky release from Square Enix on the App Store. If you guys remember the recent “Vanguard Storm” trademark they filed for, this is the result of that. (Aww, and some of us were actually bracing for a full-blown all-new RPG! – which doesn’t mean to say this looks bad either, though.) Continuing their handheld FF-based tower defense series, we now have Crystal Defenders: Vanguard Storm. And yes, the game is now available on the App Store for the usual US$ 4.99. Like the previous game, it’s got the same FF Tactics Advance feel to it, including all the jobs you get from Grimoire of the Rift. The interface had been changed though, as you can see from the screens and trailer below.
It’s not so much as a tower defense now, but they’re calling it a “defense simulation” game. Pretty impressive change of the usual tower defense mechanics, if you ask me…
