StarCraft II Beta focusing on quantity first over quality
In the ongoing StarCraft II beta, the Find Match functionality has been found to have been configured for players to find games faster rather than finding evenly matched ones. It’s quantity over quality alright, but there’s a reason behind this for sure.

Since this is the beta, it’s important for Blizzard to have a statistical overview of unit balance. Of course, in this setup, you may very well expect that since you’re not being scouted evenly matched games, there will be instances when you get opponents that may be way better for you, or are way below your skill level.
They did reassure, however, that this won’t be a permanent system since they expect that with more beta invites being sent out, more players of similar skill will be made available. When the new batch of beta testers do come in, Blizzard will then “adjust the matchmaking accuracy versus matchmaking speed” thereby making fans see “the odds [of] finding an even match improved dramatically.”
At the end of the day, it’s all about the balance they’re gunning for, so a little quantity over quality strategy right now sure doesn’t hurt.
