It was revealed only a couple of days ago that the European version of Nintendo Wii exclusive No More Heroes was censored and that the original bloody and gore-filled content were removed.
European publisher Rising Star Games, at the time of the announcement, refused to provide any explanation for the said development.
Probably due to fans’ unceasing inquiries, the companies behind the game have finally decided to release a statement. According to Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51) and Marvelous Interactive President Yasuhiro Wada provided the following joint explanation:
First, let me say how honored I am that everyone in Europe is expecting No More Heroes. The sales point of this game is action. Both I and Wada san have concentrated on making the best possible action game for the Nintendo Wii.
We have chosen to release in Europe the same version as has shipped in Japan considering the broadly growing Wii market.
According to previous reports, the Japanese launch of No More Heroes wasn’t warmly welcomed and we don’t have an idea if the content of the game was a reason for this in one way or another.
