Target releases special Speed Racer USB gift card

Target has recently released a new gift card as part of their promotions for the upcoming release of Speed Racer for the Wii. Most interesting about this gift card, however, is that it also carries a game cheat. More details on this are available in the full article.

If you visited your local Target store recently, then you may have run into their new promo for the upcoming Speed Racer title by WB Games for the Wii. It’s a gift card containing a built-in USB 2.0 Flash drive, which in turn carries several Speed Racer-related goodies. Here’s a shortlist of the gift card’s contents (via GamerTell):

• A PDF with five coloring pages featuring the Mach 5 and Racer XÂ’s vehicle.
• A PDF coupon for US$ 3 off a Speed Racer Powerburst figure-8 track set and US$1 off a Speed racer Powerburst racer (both expire 06/30/2008)
• Two Speed Racer wallpapers in two sizes
• A Racer family movie (in MOV and WMV)
• A special code for the Wii version of Speed Racer: The Videogame

The game code has to be accessed by you watching a flash advert for the title. The code pops up at the end of the animation. If you’re not interested in the free goodies, there’s always the option of emptying the card’s contents – it’s got 62.8 MB of space – and using it as a snazzy-looking USB drive.

Target’s Speed Racer gift cards should be available in most of their outlets. Speed Racer for the Wii is currently scheduled for a May 6 release. Drop by again in case we receive any word on similar advertising pitches from the other retailers.
