Tecmo on Itagaki’s woes
Tecmo finally speaks up regarding the alleged sexual harassment perpetrated by no less than the creator of DOA series and the quite controversial DOAX 2, Tomonobu Itagaki. The findings of the Japanese videogame corporation is quite intriguing – they rebutted the said allegations but maintained that an unprofessional practice indeed transpired.
“The alleged sexual harassment of the former employee by Itagaki never took place, and Tecmo did not issue an unjustified notice of dismissal to the former employee,” the company mentioned in an official statement. Furthermore, Tecmo seemed to have favored Itagaki by saying the former employee made unjust multiple demands. The said employee is asking for 10 million JPN Yen (US$ 86,380) for damages.
After having conducted its own investigation, Tecmo reiterated that the allegations were “a result of the former employee’s desire to vent frustration over her own personal affair, and not indicative of sexual harassment.” As a result of all these, both the employee and Itagaki were demoted and had their wages reduced. The director is currently preparing a counter-suit for defamation.
