TGS 2007: attendance falling, falling down
Remember last year’s Tokyo Game Show? They had an astounding 192,411 headcount, which by far exceeded their expected 160,000 visitor count. With all the new, exciting games coming out, there should be more people attending this year’s TGS, right? But that’s not the case in TGS 2007.
Tokyo Game Show 2007 clocked in with only a peak head count of 64,795, and that’s far less than the horde of almost 200,000 people who stomped their way into the halls of TGS 2006. Of course, the increased head count may be attributed to the upcoming release of Sony‘s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii at the time.
The final headcount won’t be due until later, but we do hope that next year’s TGS 2008 would have more visitors. Maybe news of new consoles will turn up the headcount (PS4 anyone?), or maybe Nintendo’s first-party presence will do the trick as well.
