Thank you, FFXIII demo, PS3 sales in Japan revs ahead
We expect more than a large fruit basket to come through Square Enix‘s lobby doors from Sony for their contribution to the PlayStation 3’s sales. Retail tracker Sinobi reports that because of the Final Fantasy XIII demo, figures for the Sony console shot up in Japan.

Now, it’s important to give credit where it is due. If you’ll remember, numbers came out showing that the PS3 sold about 16,500 units in Japan for the week ending April 12. When the Blu-ray version of Final Fantasy Advent Children Complete came out, it was reported that 70,000 out of the 100,000 copies were sold. Now, 40,000 out of this 70,000 bought a PS3 to go along with their demo!
The result? A whopping 57,000 units sold for the PS3 for last week alone, obviously in huge thanks to the demo. And that’s not even the real thing yet. Just you wait when the final game actually releases this December for Japan.
