Thief steals PS3, posts pictures?

We were surfing at digg.com”>Digg the other day and we saw this:

The bit at Digg

We were amused so we decided to do a bit of research, and we found out that most of the original thread, where they found out (or at least they started thinking) that the guy stole the PS3 he’s so proud off, is down. A few bowser refreshes and we were able to get the first page of the thread.

Below are pictures of the pertinent picture of the “stolen” item, and a screenshot of the thread it showed up in.

Stolen - Image 1 Contraband

The comments thread at Digg goes on to post his myspace account and a lot of other links pertaining to this person. We’re not going to do that here since nothing is officially confirmed yet. But suspicion is definitely high. Especially after this post by the alleged thief:

Hanniballs: ‘no its different. the ones in the kiosks aren’t the same as the final product *worried emoticon*’

Some people have taken a few educated guesses in Hanniballs defense though, saying things like: “maybe he’s a store manager and he took this one home or something,” but that sentiment isn’t exactly popular.

If this guy really did steal the thing, he’s probably taking precautions now and is in the process of ensuring that he’s reasonably hard to find. Also if he did steal the thing from a kiosk, how did he do it?
