While The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning is the latest title from the Spyro the Dragon series, it is actually a prequel that tells how Spyro’s adventure got started.
The prequel features Ignitus, an orange dragon in charge of a solitary purple egg. After making a narrow escape from evil forces, Ignitus places the egg in a river which carries it downstream. The purple egg hatches and Spyro’s out-of-the-shell adventures officially begins.
Spyro is adopted by a family of dragonflies and only realizes later that unlike the rest of his adopted family, he alone has dragon breath – the ability to breathe fire. Soon, Spyro leaves his home to find his roots. In his search he is reunited with Ignitus and learns of his true destiny. He alone can save the world from the evil force of the black dragon!
The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning focuses more on combat than the previous games and the E3 06 demo shows a more agile Spyro with different moves and abilities such as melee combos, aerial combos, and breath attacks. Due this month, The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning could re-ignite the franchise that seem to have lost its fire.
