The Lowdown on Crackdown

What do you classify a game that’s online enabled, has plenty of shoot ’em up action, racing, role playing and real time strategy all rolled into one package? FPSRPGRRTS? Ok maybe that’s a bit of a stretch, so let’s just call it unique. Crackdown is a brand new mix of many game types rolled into one – and it’s made by a known game innovator – David Jones.

Who’s David Jones you ask? Why the creator of Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings, of course.

Crackdown is set in the near future and the premise is that the regular police force has given up the fight to take the city back from the gangs and a new force is formed to take their place in the fight against heavily armed thugs that are over-running the city. You play as none other than a cloned superhuman enriched by genetically modified crime-fighting goodness, not to mention the ability to decipher any messages hidden by the agency you work for throughout the world (such as subliminal messages on billboards and stop signs).

Crackdown is currently set for a Fall release – stay tuned to QJ.NET for more info.
