The PlayStation Eye in action

Here’s the thing: almost everybody failed to notice this small change to the Accessory Settings when firmware 1.80 for the PlayStation 3 was released. The “Test Camera” option has been changed to “Camera Device Settings”, clearly preparing the console for full use of the PlayStation Eye.

Online site Games Radar uploaded this video showing their staff trying out the “test option” for the new camera with the PS3. One striking difference it has from last-gen’s EyeToy is the crisp, detailed images it can produce. It also has 50 Hz and 60 Hz option for Flicker Reduction.

Well, need we say more? Seems like Sony hit something golden on this one.
