Time Magazine reveals Top 10 Video Games of 2009

With the big oh-nine winding down, publications are now coming out with their own year-ender countdown specials. Leading the pack is Time Magazine, and sitting prettily at the number one spot for Time’s Top 10 Video Games of 2009 is Activision’s Modern Warfare 2. Anyone surprised?

With the big oh-nine winding down, publications are now coming out with their own year-ender countdown specials. Leading the pack is Time Magazine, and sitting prettily at the number one spot for Time’s Top 10 Video Games of 2009 is Activision’s Modern Warfare 2. Anyone surprised?

Time describes ModernWarfare 2 as “a game that sends a message.” The magazine primarily commended how this particular game showed that “Video games have something intelligent to say about contemporary military conflicts.”

Half of the list is composed of multiplatformers, while the other half consists of platform exclusives. Titles that made the cut include the following:

1. Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
2. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
3. DJ Hero (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii)
4. Borderlands (Xbox 360, PS3)
5. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)
6. Geo-Defense Swarm (iPhone)
7. Scribblenauts (DS)
8. Halo 3: ODST (Xbox 360)
9. Assassin’s Creed 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
10. Uncharted 2 (PS3)
