Turbine’s Jeff Anderson on Lord of the Rings Online

LOTRO: Shadows of Angmar - Image 1We already gave you the juicy dibs on Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. At the recent Comic Con New York 2007, MMORPG.com was able to catch up with the Turbine Inc. CEO himself, Jeff Anderson.

For one, Jeff Anderson was particularly proud of the Founder’s System in LOTRO; he sees it as a way of rewarding players in the game. The Founder’s System allows players to keep their characters after open beta by just paying US$ 9.99 every month, as long as these said characters are not over level fifteen.

Jeff also said that the real goal of LOTRO is to put the gamers into the storyline of The Lord of the Rings. That’s why he talks highly of the voice intros for the different areas in the game, as well as the dramatic moments that the players will enjoy, almost as if they were a part of the story itself.

If you’re the solitary type of character, there’s nothing to fear about being anti-social, as Jeff thinks that you could play the game easily up to level 50 without anyone’s help at all. But since it’s a game promoting fellowship (How, after all, would Frodo do without Pippin, Merry, Sam, Gandalf and Strider?), it’s considered a great act to help each other out.
