Turok’s New Screenshots

Maybe you’ll remember Turok more for its disappointing PS2 release by Acclaim. The developers and publishers of this new version of the game promise that it’s going to be a far cry from the old version.

The new team behind Turok is made up of Buena Vista and Propaganda Games people. They promise to bring something close to the Nintendo 64 classic, Turok the Dinosaur Hunter, that would be better enjoyed by gamers. Turok is still a first-person shooter, but developers say that there will be some third-person elements incorporated into the game to make it more exciting. The game will be mission-based, and the transitions from place to place are said to be seamless.

According to developers, most parts of the game will be “human vs. human” but there will also be parts of the game where players can use the environment and the genetically mutated dinosaurs as weapons. The story takes place in the future and centers on Joseph Turok, an ex-Black Ops commando now a soldier of an elite team. The team’s mission is to hunt down Turok’s mentor who turned evil. As the team goes after Turok’s mentor, the plane crashes on an island filled with genetically-mutated creatures and hostile enemy forces.

Turok is scheduled for release sometime this year for both handhelds and current and next-gen consoles.
