Matt Martin of GamesIndustry.biz informs that despite a less than admirable UK launch, the software sales and the hardware sales – 165,000 units sold in the two days following the launch, a record better than the Wii’s – for Sony‘s PS3 is doing quite well. Insomniac GamesResistance: Fall of Man, and Evolution StudiosMotorStorm take the first and second spots respectively in the UK all-formats charts.

Codemasters’ Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 got place third, Virtua Tennis 3 took the number 4 spot. Activision‘s Call of Duty 3 saw a boost from the PS3 and jumped from number 20 to number 5. GTA Vice City Stories ranks in at number six. The PS3 exclusive Formula 1: Championship Edition is seventh. The PC shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl is at eight. And finally, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 take ninth and tenth spots respectively.

Will this admirable performance continue into the next few weeks? Time will tell.
