Unconfirmed: A black Xbox 360?

Maybe it pays to pay attention to advertising. Over at the Gamespot site, there’s the “When your game needs a little more game” flash ad from Best Buy. Okay, so a PSP and an attached accessory comes along, then a PS2 zips by, and then this (capped from the ad itself)…

A black Xbox 360 from Best Buy?!

A black Xbox 360? The last time something like this popped up was back last year. Even then, the only time we’ve seen a different casing for the 360 was usually in conjunction with some sort of special promo or one-of-a-kind makes, like the Table Tennis Xbox 360 casing and controllers.

Again, this really is only a rumor – there’s nothing out there official to confirm if Microsoft will be shipping any new black casings. Best Buy itself doesn’t have any “black Xbox 360s” on their online shelves. So what’s up? The guys at Xboxic are thinking that, most likely, this couldn’t be a “coloring” mistake made by some graphic artist at Best Buy or elsewhere. No one can mistake that profile for the original Xbox (which was black), either. And it’s Christmas, so why not offer something new for all that holiday spending?

Well, a casing the color of the night would be quite a beauty. After all, Apple does have the BlacBook – why can’t Microsoft do the BlaXbox 360?
