Good news for Unreal Tournament fans with a Sony PlayStation 3 in their living rooms – the Sony PS3 version of Epic Games‘ Unreal Tournament 3 (also for Xbox 360 and PC) has recently gone gold, and is now on its merry way to being made copies out of. If things go as planned, we may be fragging each other in glorious next-gen graphics come December 11. Sweet!
This news comes directly from Epic Games’ Mark Rein, via a news post on the game’s official blog. He revealed that the company had just received word from Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) that yes, the Sony PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 has been given the green light for release, with the master copy sent to North America for manufacturing.
For those of us in PAL territories, fret not, because it won’t be long before localized versions of Unreal Tournament 3 start popping up in store shelves over there. Mark Rein’s news post, verbatim:
My guess is that Midway will start shipping the title to North American retailers on Monday December 10th and it could show up in stores as early as December 11th but more likely toward the middle of that week.
For PAL territories, specifically UK and Europe, we have a few localization-related tasks to complete and then we should be starting the certification process pretty soon. My best guess is early next year (January or February) for the game to ship over there.
Definitely good news indeed. Here’s to some sweet FPS action this holiday season.
