Update: Eve Online Fanfest 2006
Eve Online Fanfest 2006 is almost upon us (November 9 to 11) and this year’s event will be held at Hotel Nordica in Reykjavik. We have no idea where the heck that is, either. But thanks to Google Earth, we’re now sure its on this planet. Reykjavik is on the very cool country of Iceland and if you attended last year’s fanfest you know this will be the second time the city is hosting Eve Online Fanfest.
First-time attendees? Don’t worry you won’t have to freeze your butts off inside an igloo. Reykjavik boasts of a cutting-edge conference center in a four-star comfort zone of the Nordica Hotel. It’s where all of the fanfest events will take place. You can get there by dogsled if you’re the adventurous type. We’re guessing you’re not, so take Icelandair instead.
As for the games itself, first place winners for the PvP and Collectible Card Game tournaments will get artwork (based on their real faces, not EVE avatars so practice your best MMORPG pose). These will be used in an EVE Chronicle for the PvP tournament and a special CCG card for the CCG tourney (so practice those poses, you don’t want to look like Alfred Neumann). The first prize winners will also get print of the images signed by the artist – a potential eBay hot seller for sure unless you managed to look like Neumann.
Aside from the games you can meet members of the EVE Dev Team and actually share your thoughts and feedback on a number of topics that covers:
- Roleplay and Events
- Player vs. Player Combat
- Player Corporations and Empires
- Factional Warfare
- Agent Missions, Exploration and Complexes
- Future Expansions
- The New Player Experience
- Voice in EVE
Proving that Iceland knows how to generate heat will be the CCP dev band RoXoR. RoXoR is slated to perform at the fanfest party on Saturday night and experts are expecting glacial ice to melt once the band hits the stage.
An exotic city on top of the world, a band that promises to rock you like a snowstorm, and of course a PVP Tournament and an Eve Online CCG tourney. If you can think of a better place to be on those dates give us a holler, aight?
