US VC Update: Super C, Breath of Fire II, Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
With today’s gaming scene inundated with photo-realistic graphics, blinding special effects and heavy, mature-themed gameplay, it’s always nice to sit back, relax, and have a round or two with the games that saw us through the previous generations.
Sure, they might pale in comparison with today’s titles, they may not have the same production values or innovative touches, but they came first, they paved the way for the later generations, they gave us memories that we will cherish forever. Yes, it’s time to get sentimental once again, with three very classic titles coming for the Virtual Console in the US region.
First up is Super C, more commonly known as Super Contra. As we all know, the Contra series had always been about running and gunning through cleverly-designed levels, collecting lives and weapons along your way – but it’s also thanks to Contra that we first got the idea of two players working together to achieve a common goal, and that’s to defeat the massive bosses at the end of the level.
Next up is Breath of Fire II, the second adventure in the beloved Breath of Fire series that features a classic roleplaying experience with a deep, engaging story of dragons, betrayals, love, camaraderie, and courage. Ryu stars once again as the protagonist in this epic tale, joined by a massive cast of both allies and enemies in an adventure that would pretty much give you countless hours of gameplay and exploration.
Finally, take the fight to the undead with Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, the side-scrolling adventure that has you invading the underworld in a one-man battle against evil. With a host of weapons, armor and magic abilities, you’ll never feel helpless – even when you’re down to your underwear. One man may not make a difference, but if that man is Arthur, Lucifer may very well kiss his reign of terror goodbye.
Great, great titles indeed. While we don’t have news of what sort of prices these three videogaming gems will be going for, rest assured that we’ll be updating you as soon as we catch wind of them.
