US Virtual Console gets Mega Turrican and Fantasy Zone
Heads up, retro gamers! The US Virtual Console will be getting two new games tomorrow from the classic Sega platforms. This week, we’re getting Fantasy Zone, the quirky arcade shmup, and Mega Turrican, the classic shooter game from the mid-90s. Details in the full article.
It’s time for your regular weekly dose of retro games, Wii gamers! This week on the US Virtual Console are the classic (what else could they be other than classic) games, Fantasy Zone, and Mega Turrican.
Assuming you haven’t been around long enough to remember these games, or if you just plain don’t remember these games, here’s a brief recap. First of all, both games are side scrollers that once appeared on classic Sega systems.
The first game, Fantasy Zone, came from the Sega Master System. It’s an arcade game with some shoot ’em up elements. You take command of the spaceship Opa-Opa and just blast your ways through the various stages.
The second game, Mega Turrican, appeared on the Sega Genesis in the mid-90s. It feels something like Metroid; you even have an Assault Suit. You play Bren McGuire, whose task is to destroy the forces that have left the galaxy in ruins.
Both games will be available tomorrow on the Wii’s Virtual Console. Fantasy Zone will be available for 500 Wii Points, while Mega Turrican will be available for 800.
