Video: Eye of Judgment Developer walkthrough Part 2

More details abound the highly-anticipated card game that lets you see your own monsters duke it out in sweet, sweet next-gen graphics, SCE Studios Japan‘s Eye of Judgment for the PS3. In Part 2 of the Developer Walkthrough, we learn more about how an actual match plays like.

Watching the video, we learn that the direction your summoned monsters are facing figures quite a bit during the attack and defend phases – namely, that if the monster you’re attacking is facing away from your monsters, they may or may not be able to counterattack depending on their attributes.

Another important aspect in the match is the Check phase, where one player is dangerously close to losing, with the other player having captured four of the tiles (remember that a player needs to capture only five of the nine-tile mat to win). The ‘checked’ opponent then has to destroy one of the other player’s monsters in one turn for the game to continue, otherwise the fifth title would be captured and the game would end.

Eye of Judgment’s really shaping up to be a very attractive title indeed, with slick graphics and online playability. This might just be the card game genre’s ticket to the next-gen gaming market, but it’s a bit soon to tell. In any case, enjoy the video!
