A whole truckload of Beautiful Katamari screenshots are included in a recent Famitsu report. If you’re curious about Namco Bandai‘s upcoming next-generation installment of its much loved franchise, check the screens and game details after the jump.
This first batch of screens show how you should – judging from past games in the franchise – start out most of the time when you the Prince of all Cosmos gets ordered to roll a Katamari. You start out really small, then you work your way up.
Then you start looking for larger things to pick up – from noodles to TVs, all the way to islands, hopes, and dreams.
Of course, when you meet the stage’s requirements – a size requirement most of the time – the King of all Cosmos beams you out of the area via Royal Rainbow. Don’t rejoice though, as the King is always ready with a lecture on how you could’ve done better. Why is it so hard to please royalty?
You roll through stage after stage, but that not where the fun ends. You get to dress up with some accessories, and you also get to play with your cousins. This latest installment in the franchise is set to feature more cousins, better physics, and a four-way multiplayer roll-up fest online.
Of course, other than the online play, most of these you’ve already experienced in past Katamari installments. So what exactly is new in Beautiful Katamari? Well, there’s the 5000-plus object variety that was mentioned in previous press releases. Then there’s this new cousin. You’ve probably seen him in previously released screens.
Well, watch this Pac-man inspired cousin do something new in Katamari Damacy history. Roll a katamari from a measly 1 meter 52 centimeters, all the way to an astounding 7,555 km. Now this is just us speculating, but judging from the screens it looks like it was done in one stage. Oh the chaos!
Beautiful Katamari is set to be released for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
