Western market finally feeling at home with Lineage II

Lineage IIIt has been two years since Lineage II was released in North America. Back then, the game just enjoyed a moderate amount of success and nothing more. While the franchise continues to dominate in their Asian market, the fantasy MMORPG was having problems to grab a niche ’round here.

Today is a different story though, as NCSoft proudly announced that Lineage II finally broke the 100,000-active player mark both for North America and Europe. “More and more players are joining in and staying with Lineage II, making it one of the top MMOs in North America and Europe, as well as in the world,” declared NCSoft North America CEO, Robert Garriott.

This year alone, the game has seen a 25% increase when it comes to market subscription. The company would like to attribute the said success to various reasons including regular updates, free expansions and delivering features requested by players. “It is not a game for the faint of heart, but we worked to adjust the game to fit our customers and weÂ’re seeing more players view it as the pinnacle of MMO gaming,” added Garriott.

Aside from the above mentioned, NCSoft is also known for maintaining policies that keep their playing field on the right level by hunting down botters and farmers. Meanwhile, the franchise package Lineage II: The Epic Collection is currently available at various retailers, as well at the online store PlayNC with a price tag of U.S.$ 29.99.
