When Gamers Fall In Love: Super Mario Wedding Cake
Falling in love and getting married has long been considered as one of the sweetest and best moments that a person will ever go through in a lifetime. But imagine how sweeter it could be when your bride is someone who shares your gaming habits and can probably kick you around in a round of Unreal Tournament? And when the wedding day comes along, guess who’s topping that wedding cake? No generic, ceramic brides and grooms here, but collectible Mario and Princess Toadstool collectible figures!
When the friends of AltText webmaster, blogger, and photographer Ben Edwards from Minnesota decided to tie the knot, they knew exactly what they wanted and hence turned to cake makers Gateaux Inc., to make that special day even more memorable (how can anyone forget that your wedding cake was Mario-themed??). However, the hardest part of the cake-making business was actually finding the toppers. Thankfully, a set of Super Mario figures was found being sold on eBay, which were originally from Japan’s Nintendo Club, and they were immediately bought and shipped to the waiting couple.
What’s so good about this cake is that it’s entirely edible (no icing-topped cardboard parts, folks), it’s memorable, and the toppers are not just going to gather dust in some cabinet, but can actually gain collector’s value as time goes on. Pretty smart, if you ask me.
