The Wii Classic Controller and the new Classic Controller PRO
While everyone’s trying to get into the motion-sensing scene to compete with the Wii’s popularity, the Wii’s going back to a more traditional form of gaming. They upgraded their Classic Controller to the new Classic Controller PRO, which has a distinct PlayStation-esque flavor to it.
The PRO has new handle grips, and a new shoulder layout which will make the teeny tiny ZR and ZL buttons easier to hit. No doubt it’ll attach to the Wii Remote as well. The controller will be released in Japan sometime this Summer, but no details were released for other regions yet.
Nintendo didn’t say why they’re coming out with a new controller, though it might have had something to do with the patent suit they lost last year. They could also be planning new, more advanced games for the virtual console – though I doubt we’ll be seeing any SIXAXIS-type games any time soon.
