Wii may suffer shortage this holiday again
Slight hitch for the Wii-dom. Although Christmas is still months away, Nintendo has announced that there is a possibility of a shortage for the Wii again this year. This will also probably hold true for its peripherals as well, like the Zapper, the Dance Mat and the Wheel.
Nintendo of America“>George Harrison, senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications for Nintendo of America, said, “There is no guarantee that we are not going to have ‘out-of-stocks’ this holiday season. If you see one, buy it. Don’t assume that you can come back later and find one.”
Harrison further explains that they are “trying to figure out what’s the reasonable monthly level, and as we’ve seen every time we ship product to the market, whether it’s in Japan or here in the U.S. or in Europe, it sells out in a matter of days.” Nintendo is probably expecting a huge boom in unit sales with its line up of games, especially Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
Manufacturers of the Wii are still trying to figure out how much they actually need to produce. So those of you who don’t plan on getting a Wii yet, be prepared for another long winter.
