Wii setup for Best Buy leaks
While retailers are having a problem putting up with Sony, it seems that the opposite is true for Nintendo. Marketing campaigns are currently in full swing as the Wii launch draws near. Just a few days ago, we covered Wii countdown clock’s appearance over at GameStop. Today, another retailer Best Buy is looking pretty neat and poised with its larger campaign strategy.
An employee of the said retailer, who wishes to remain unknown, sent in a picture of the pre-launch Wii setup for the “big blue box.” Aside from the image, the employee also leaked a 22-page memorandum containing which stores will be participating in the promotion. We heard that there are a total of 249 stores taking part in the promotion, with each installing two four-feet “Coming Soon” billboards and a countdown clock. Accordingly, the letter was written by VMSM, a possible third party marketing company for Nintendo.
The more interesting part is the “new” slogan that can be found on the display. It reads: “When you hit a drum, swing a raquet or a bat, why should you have to press a button?” Also, in case you visit your local Best Buy, can you look for the above mentioned launch set-up? Tell us then your locality and let’s see if we can make it to 249.
