Wii Speak peripheral: your ONLY gateway to the Wii Speak Channel, don’t buy second hand
Nintendo proves to have a good head for business on their shoulders with their new Wii Speak peripheral. Looks like this is your one and only gateway to the Wii Speak Channel. Word of advice: Do not buy them second hand. See why at the full article.
A word of caution to those buying the Wii Speak peripheral. MTV Multiplayer blogger Stephen Totila has picked up his unit yesterday and found that if you’re buying Wii Speak, you have to get it brand new. Second-handers out there won’t be too pleased with this prospect.
According to him, included in the package of the Wii Speak peripheral is a pamphlet in which a 16-character code is printed. This code is the Wii Download Ticket Number, and you’ll need this to download the Wii Speak Channel. The catch is that this “cannot be replaced by Nintendo or your retailer if it is lost or stolen.”
You doing the math? Buying it second hand would mean that you won’t be getting the Wii Download Ticket Number, of course assuming that the original owner has already used the code for his own use. And no, there is just no other way to download the Wii Channel except through this code. And this code can only be had if you buy the Wii Speak microphone peripheral. A tight package, don’t you think?
So if you’re still keen on getting it second hand, just make sure the code hasn’t been used yet – although that is quite a stretch. Or else, you’re just gonna be limited to using the voice chat function on Animal Crossing: City Folk.
