Wiibrew video: GoldenEye 007 N64 working on Homebrew Channel
Lately, we’ve haven’t heard much updates for Wii64, the N64 emulator for the Wii. However, it seems that one gamer didn’t need it. He (or she) managed to play the classic GoldenEye 007 N64 game on the Homebrew Channel with little hitches. Watch a vid of it in the full article.
Great news from the Wiibrew front! Although we haven’t heard much on Wii64’s development (the Nintendo 64 emulator for the Wii) lately, it seems that one guy (or gal) didn’t need it. In a posted video, this gamer managed to run the classic Nintendo 64 game GoldenEye 007 on the Wii Homebrew Channel, with few hitches.
According to the poster, this is a Virtual Console inject using the Sin and Punishment WAD. The poster didn’t go on to say just how it was done, but as you can see from the video, it was managed somehow. “The secret is the opcodes,” the poster said.
Some doubters cry fake, but personally I want to believe it’s real simply because it’s GoldenEye 007. I just wish Nintendo would hurry it up and release it on the Virtual Console already. The poster’s description says that:
It’s working for the most part. Saving is broken, it doesn’t remember anything if you exit. It also has occasional slow downs. Multiplayer worked with two players, I haven’t tried with three or four.
Is it the real thing then? We’ll probably hear more on this soon. Here’s the video for your perusal:
