Wing Island: More screens and character art

Famitsu magazine recently released more screenshots for Wing Island for the Nintendo Wii, and while there’s no news on any planned U.S. release for this flight-sim, we thought you’d enjoy more shots of this interesting application of what to expect from this particular release from Hudson Soft.

First up is the character art and basic plot. The guy (we’re ASSUMING it’s a guy) on the left is the main character, and the Engrish translation states that he inherited his plane from his grandfather on Wing Island. The girl (Pink feathers, long eyelashes…) is his mechanic/childhood friend.

Given the character backgrounds, it looks like Wing Island is shaping up to becoming less of a lighthearted flight-sim, and more of an RPG. Hmm, works for us.

More on Wing Island’s planes after this jump!

Speaking of  planes, you get to fly multiple planes in-game, each with their own stats. The stats are as follows: speed, turn rate, and durability. We know what “speed” and “turn rate” affect, but we’re not too sure what durability means for now. The first plane looks like the default frame, with average stats in all three aspects:

The second plane’s got higher durability, but is slower in both speed and turn rate.

The third plane has low endurance and decent speed, but can turn on a  dime.

The last section is all about the various control tricks you can do with the Wiimote with regards to the planes, but since we’ve  already covered that before, just feel free to ogle the next few screenies. Enjoy!
