Wireless receiver in stores now for the X360

Windows Vista users and Xbox 360 players may soon find themselves duking it out online as Microsoft has released its new Wireless Receiver to allow the Xbox controller and other hardware to easily be used with your PC.

Foremost is that it serves as the arbiter for Microsoft’s strategy of linking X360’s with Vista-driven computers. That is, the paradigm attempts to create a sphere wherein the online playing field could be made more seamless for players of both platforms. Though we won’t be seeing a PC vs. 360 session of Gears of War just yet, it’s the first step in gaining optimum functionality for gamepads To work on PC games.

The receiver supports the 360 racing wheel, Microsoft gamepads and XBI headsets, which is well appreciated to give a boon to voice command games and other software. Shadowman, UNO and Halo 2 for the PC will have full voice chat functions and will harness the receiver technology. Lastly, the Vista’s Media Center will be supporting gamepads for navigation.

The receiver is priced at US$ 19.99 as a stand-alone unit or you can choose to pay US$ 59.95 to get an X360 controller bundled in.
