Wishful Thinking on PS3 Subliminal Ads
The PS3 is one much hyped-up console, not only because of its staggering features but also because of the equally staggering price that comes with it (compared with other next-gen console’s price tags). As such, many find the PS3’s features either appealing or appalling.
Some say that the said console is way ahead of its time, while others believe that we’re just not ready for it yet. While others focus on the Blu-ray, the STI Cell Processor, and 1080p; game journalist Joseph Berkley speculates a particular PS3 spec that seems to merit attention: the 120 FPS/hertz feature of PS3 games.
Electronic devices deliver images to us via frames. How long these devices deliver the said images to us is measured by frame rates, either expressed as frames per second (FPS) or hertz. Apparently, the current standard is 60 hertz, as the latest HDTVs are reported to produce around 60 hertz. The 120 FPS the PS3 offers seems to be quite an achievement compared to what we have at the moment. However, science says that few people could process outputs at 75 FPS. So Berkley wonders what could the remaining 45 frames be for. His answer? Subliminal ads.
Berkley says that Sony will flash “Really Quick Images flashing on a Screen” that will coax us into buying super-sized fast-food cheeseburgers and fries (yum, yum) every time we turn on the PS3. He adds that Sony will introduce a technology in their PS4, that will enable the said console to send signals directly to our brain egging us to follow its every whim. Basically, every PS3 user would turn out to be consumer junkies controlled by various PS3-sponsored ads.
So why is the PS3 taking so long to produce? Sony is still coaxing other advertising mojos to promote their products via the PS3. And why will Sony win the next-gen war? Because the 120 FPS subliminal ads will pawn you all.
