It seems that after numerous assurances and clarifications regarding the Battleground’s gear matching system, some players are still feeling iffy about it. Wayfaerer from the World of Warcraft Forums had a number of questions regarding the system.

He asked whether the gear matching system only check item level totals and not the item quality. He noted that the queue times haven’t really changed any so he wonders if the battlegrounds gear matching system is really up. Blizzard poster Drysc was on hand to answer the query:

The matching system as it is now is set to be pretty loose. Partially because the system is new. The technology is in now though, and now that it’s there we can begin tweaking the settings, tightening up how picky it is and see real results. The other part is the battlegrounds don’t have a ton of people playing in them, and so it’s going to be looser to keep the queue times down.

He added that they will be making adjustments in the future, so far they’re basically observing the system and its effects on queues and other things. At least we have the assurance that Blizzard isn’t going to jump the gun on us and crank up the settings that may give us a heck of a time standing in line. We’ll see how this goes in the long run, stay tuned for more World of Warcraft news.
