Xbox 360 flourishes in India
As we all know, Microsoft has been going the extra mile in an attempt to establish themselves in the East, and achieve the same level of success that they did in the West. Now, even though we’re not quite sure how they stand with the Japanese, they at least seem to be doing well in India since the console was locally released in September 2006.
According to Gunjan Bagla of Amritt Ventures, the Xbox 360 is actually “ubiquitous in stores across Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore”. There aren’t any exact numbers from MS India that we could mull over right now, but it is surmised that they have managed to take a chunk out of the estimated “1.6 million gamers in India who spend at least 2 hours playing everyday”, a demographic that was once cited by Mohit Anand of Microsoft’s India Entertainment and Devices Division.
Considering that the average annual income of Indian citizens are considerably lower as compared to their Western counterparts, we’re guessing that those gaming loans that their banks have been offering may be doing the trick.
