Xbox8164Adapter Firmware for LG-8164

Xbox8164AdapterDo you have an Xbox1 drive that is broken or is already having a hard time reading discs? I’m pretty sure you’ve already began your search for a replacements drive. If you have successfully found one, lucky you…because apparently, it’s getting harder and harder to find Xbox replacement drives. That is why PATx came up with the Xbox8164Adapter.

As LG has stopped production of the 8163b DVD drive, which could easily be converted into an Xbox1 drive, the only alternative now is LG GDR-8164 PC DVD drive, which is really hard to use with Xbox. Not to take things sitting down, PATx did some research and came up with the Xbox8164Adapter that makes it “very easy and clean for everyone to use”. It adds a connector to the LG 8164, making connection to the drive of the special Xbox “yellow” power/eject DVD-cable possible.

With the adapter, the LG 8164 has been successfully turned into a working Xbox1 drive; unfortunately, with the adapter, original Xbox1 discs were not played. But all is not lost, as the Xbox8164Adapter team has now come up with a modified firmware that will solve the problem. With this firmware, you can now boot original Xbox1 discs (aside from XBOX CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, and DVD+R backups) on your modded Xbox. Here’s how you use it:

Step 1: Connect the LG-8164 to your PC.
Step 2: Extract the xbox8164flasher.rar and run the flasher.
Step 3: Choose the appropriate drive.
Step 4: Click flash up and your done!

Now, I’m pretty sure most of you readers are wondering why these Xbox1 adapter + firmware are found in the Xbox360 section, that’s because the presented products can also be used to read the content of original Xbox 360 discs. And the team also promises that they’ll continue coding to make SS extraction for Xbox 360 games also possible with the adapter and firmware.

You can get the Xbox8164Adapter for roughly $20 bucks here. The firmware, on the other hand, is available for download…just click on the link below.
