First, Fatal Frame 4: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse gets held back, and now Wii gamers are getting another piece of bad news: the North American release of Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Oboro Muramasa in Japan) is now in jeopardy.

XSEED, who was supposed to bring the Vanillaware-developed Muramasa to the US, announced that they are no longer involved with the game’s US release by way of a statement released earlier today:

XSEED Games confirms that it is no longer involved with the North American release of Muramasa: The Demon Blade. XSEED Games and Marvelous had previously announced the game as part of the initial line up between the two publishing partners. We firmly believe in the product and will look forward to seeing it release in North America.

This isn’t the end yet, though. There’s still a chance for Muramasa to make it stateside as long as it gets another US publisher. Hey, maybe Marvelous Entertainment USA can publish it themselves. Keep checking back here for more updates.
