Yoyomacy bids homebrew community goodbye

Halu-a end credits

It all started with ramsfootball2006’s comment on Hal-ua’s forum release thread: “halo is registerd trademark and using anything from that game including its name without permission is a federal offence”

In case you’re lost and don’t know what Hal-ua is, it’s yoyomacy‘s “halo type sidescroller”. And since it’s Halo-inspired, sprites and backgrounds are so reminiscent of the Bungie-developed game. Hence the ramsfootball2006 comment. A certain xploern went to yoyomacy’s rescue by saying that the sprites and background are from someone or somewhere else. Of course yoyomacy also defended himself: “i thought abot it and i found that i cant use the sprites without permission, so i asked the creator and he told me i can use it if i credit him, and i agreed.”

But Aphonia posted this statement from youresam that claimed that he never gave yoyomacy permission to use the Halo-esque sprites and background.

And the story stretches to at least 13 more pages with people doubting yoyomacy’s statement that he did get the permission to use the sprites and others trying to defend him. He did butt in a few times to give his side of the story. But as with all things repeatedly done, yoyomacy got tired of explaining his side. And this led to him saying goodbye…

Yes, the coder who brought us Outrun, luaAirForce, Text2Fone, fBrowserXP, and PSP eMail and SMS is quitting the homebrew scene.

Such a sad, sad thing to let go of a really good coder. As of now, yoyomacy’s “status” on the forums is already “Banned”. And the thread from which all the accusations came from has been removed. Many tried to stop his leaving the homebrew community but I guess yoyomacy was really determined to clear his name. And if this is the way he thought would achieve that, then by all means we respect the decision. But hey, yoyomacy, when you do get time out from your schooling and you decide to code some more for the PSP, the homebrew community will be more than willing to welcome you back.

Until next time. Good luck!

But Aphonia posted this statement from youresam that made yoyomacy’s statement shady (if indeed the youresam post is true):

Well, heres the little story. I gave ipodmock a while back to ‘train’ to take a ‘high quality’ vid. Then comes yoyomacy, pasted a fake convo into an IM to train saying that I would let him have it, and train sent it to him. yoyomacy and train promised to delete it, so I thought everything was settled.

And the story stretches to at least 13 more pages with people doubting yoyomacy’s statement that he did get the permission to use the sprites and others trying to defend him. ok i decided, im starting to believe all the people that the sprites were not allowed to be used in the game hal-ua, and really i dont want trouble over a game, so in this case i would like to inform you that i will stop coding for psp, and halua will be dead and i want it removed from qj and dl.qj, and luaairforce will be given to someoe of my choice to continue working on….now me, i will be asked to be perma banned so im not tempted to come back, and this is keeping me way busy off school. so goodbye.
