Aussie Sony exec calls Xbox 360 expensive

Xbox vs PSIn a strange reversal of roles, it’s Sony‘s turn to question Microsoft‘s pricing. Sony Australia executive Michael Ephraim, known earlier for his comments on Nintendo’s Wii, has made some additional statements, this time regarding the Xbox 360.

“It’s still pricey, and I’m sure Microsoft will do everything they can, but if you just look at the offerings from each format and the marketplace that we are now playing in, especially Playstation 2, it has to be affordable because we are talking about mass-market and non traditional gamers.” Despite his earlier comment on that, Ephraim had said that he thought the Xbox 360 did well during launch day.

In connection with this, Ephraim stated he felt that the PS3’s delayed Europe release for March next next year would not affect the PS3’s overall sales in the long run, adding that March would provide an “uncluttered” time venue between retailers and their customers, Australia being part of the Europe release of the console.

The PS3 will sell in Australia for AU$ 830 (US$ 622.70), and AU$ 999 (US$ 749.50).
