Blizzcon 2008: first details revealed

If you’re a fan of World of Warcraft, StarCraft 2, or any of Blizzard‘s games, then here’s the announcement you’ve been waiting for. Blizzard has finally released details regarding Blizzcon 2008 via press release.

This year’s event, which will be held on October 10 and 11at the Anaheim Convention Center, is the biggest one yet. According to the press release, Blizzcon will now take up three convention halls as compared to last year’s two.

Tickets for the event should be going on sale over the next few weeks for US$ 100 each.  While the entrance fee might seem a bit pricey, the activities Blizzard plans to hold during the event seem to be well worth it.

Here’s a list of some of the things gamers will be able to do during Blizzcon 2008:

  • Hands-on play time with upcoming Blizzard Entertainment releases
  • Discussion panels with Blizzard Entertainment developers
  • Competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents
  • Areas and activities devoted to licensed products such as the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game
  • Costume, machinima, and character sound-alike contests with great prizes
  • Commemorative merchandise based on the Blizzard Entertainment franchises
  • A silent auction
