Capcom: No Resident Evil 5 until ’08

No Resident Evil 5? - Image 1A financial statement from Capcom,  the developer-slash-publisher of many videogame hits that make up a sizeable chunk of any gamer’s library today, has inadvertently revealed a piece of bad news that can dampen any Resident Evil fan’s day: the fact that there’ll be no Resident Evil 5 until next year.

While we don’t have any actual confirmation from Capcom itself, the financial statement does reveal that the next-gen title in the massively-popular zombie franchise won’t be making an appearance before the end of the current fiscal year – making April 2008 as the game’s earliest release date.

Well, that’s a buzz-kill if there ever was one. But for all us zombie heads, there’s still good news, in the form of Resident Evil 4 for the Wii and all its improvements with the Wiimote, as well as Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the DS being released this year. So it’s not an all-out drought. Plus, with Devil May Cry 4 on the way and coming in two different flavors (Xbox 360 and PS3), the Capcom joy is never-ending. Let’s just hope the next entry in the Resident Evil series isn’t too delayed.
