Clan support coming to all of Xbox Live?

Xbox Live - Image 1 It’s been confirmed that Bungie’s Halo 3 which ships for the Microsoft Xbox 360 at the end of the month will support player clans for ranked matches. A new rumor, however, says that the entire Xbox Live community may get it in time for Halo 3‘s huge launch.

Players who’ve been playing online games for a bit of time will know that a clan is a player group created and organized by users themselves for social and competitive purposes. In the rumored Xbox Live support for a clan system, it will be done in conjunction with a dashboard update and will be a boon to team contests.

Like individual players, clans will be ranked according to their winning ability in ranked matches on games that support it. Other details have not been discussed, but it does seem like a feasible idea.

However, there’s nothing coming from the Microsoft camp in response to this rumor. There’s a bit of time left before Halo 3 finally makes it to the shelves, but one has to wonder if anything dramatic can happen in that time span. In any case, Microsoft did say that this will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time, so let’s hope we see some spectacular surprises. We’ll keep you posted for more.
