The Crisis Core director said that he uses no specific method to get his creative juices flowing. His method is very straightforward, too:

The usual procedure is to put a general image of the final product into a project proposal, then attempt to work in various ideas for each aspect of the game in a short time. In my case, these ideas come from everything in my past experience…

Interestingly enough, Tabata admitted to being a fan of Doraemon. He mentioned that the show’s  “highly innovative items from the 22nd century” have really influenced his creative thoughts. The director is also a fan of movies and high-tech gadgets, and he has this penchant for becoming so interested in something as to devote all his free time to it.

Tabata is currently working on a number of titles, including Final Fantasy agito13. The director acknowledged, however, that Square Enix‘s Final Fantasy 7 world is his primary field of interest. In fact, a concept that might appeal him is that of a gun-action game set in that very world.
